Reflection

       Throughout this course, I have not only learned a lot about writing, but also about my area of study. Three of the four projects assigned over the six weeks of this course have given me the opportunity to research the biases in Artificial Intelligence. As a Management Information Systems (MIS) major, AI systems are one of the most fascinating aspects of modern technology. Having the freedom to choose which area to study made this course much more enjoyable. 

       My favorite project that I have completed for this course was the Multi-genre Persuasive Campaign. I have never had the opportunity to complete an assignment of that nature, and it was a breath of fresh air. I was able to express my creativity in this assignment and show my personality through my work. I learned diverse ways to persuade people and how to address different audiences through different mediums through the completion of this assignment. Putting together a PowerPoint presentation and a Poster was the most enjoyable part of completing this assignment. I viewed this assignment as a research paper that took the form of a different medium.  

       Additionally, I enjoyed the Rhetorical Analysis of Field Artifacts essay. This assignment allowed me to learn a lot about rhetorical characteristics and how they can be used to persuade viewers. Completing this assignment prior to the Multi-genre Persuasive Campaign was a strategic way of teaching me persuasion methods and then applying them to my own artifacts. While I have previously done a rhetorical analysis on artifacts for a class, I have never done a non-text-based artifact like I did in this class. Initially, I was not looking forward to analyzing the Ted Talk I chose, but as I began to complete this assignment it ended up being one of the most enjoyable papers I have put together.  

       For the Investigative Field Essay, I felt that it was a basic paper that I have written a million times. I found myself struggling to find things to say throughout the writing process but that is typical for me when drafting papers of this nature. Being able to choose my own topic of interest for this assignment made it more bearable, but I cannot say this was the most enjoyable assignment I completed. My completion of this assignment has allowed me to gain a plethora of knowledge about my field of study and it prepared me for future assignments.  

       Overall, this class allowed me to study an area in my field of study thoroughly and interact with my peers. I enjoyed the group work that we did in every class, and I feel I have gained a lot from the Peer Review Workshops. This class was well organized, and Professor Sanders was always kind and helpful. The projects were enjoyable, and I appreciated the opportunity to choose my own topics for each of the first three assignments. I will use the knowledge I have gained in this course to complete future assignments.
